Who we are
EN.TECH Italia srl is a start-up company founded in 2021 from the idea of four women: an entrepreneur, a researcher, a young biologist and a student in Engineering Science. However, our story started way before... Starting from 2013, one of our founders and some of our collaborators began studying the efficiency of Microbial Fuel Cells applied Polyciclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) in water environment and in the remediation of polluted sediments sampled at a dismissed industrial site. Later on, in collaboration with a company working in the oil sector, we set-up and tested MFCs applied to the bioremediation of soil polluted by hydrocarbons leading us to the registration of a patent (n. 102019000015210 – Italian Ministry of Economic Development) of our REMED_MFCs.
- Life Cycle Analysis
- Energy systems
- Contaminants Management

what we do...
Our scope is to design and set-up bioelectrochemical systems for environmental remediation and our REMED_MFC project represents the first step to the set-up of a scaled-up system through the interaction with companies and research centers. Interdisciplinarity is the word that better describe our research team: we have on board microbiologists, engineers, experts in environmental accounting and life cycle analysis, projects and business managers and two expert advisors, Prof.Ted Endreny (State University of New York - SUNY) and Prof.Claudio Avignone-Rossa (University of Surrey, UK), who guide us on the pathway towards the innovation. Further, we offer services and consultancies for other companies such as environmental studies, process and products Life Cycle Analysis (LCA), design of photovoltaic systems for households and much more!

Our Product
REMED MFC
Remediation technologies are often very expensive and are not exempt from environmental impacts. Bio-based processes are, nowadays, less costly in comparison to chemical physical processes, but their application can be limited by the shortage or lack of electron acceptors/donors. Bio-electrochemical systems, by providing both acceptors/donors can speed up bioprocesses while facilitating the degradation of pollutants by means of biocatalisys. The potential integration of Bioelectrochemical Systems to urbangreen infrastructures can contribute to the increase of urban sustainability by providing soil and water remediation and a source of renewable energy to be used to improve the remediation process itself or to power electronic devices/light sources. The development of REMED_MFCs can lead to environmental quality improvement, energy savings, CO2 emissions reduction.
